2014: FRIENDS OF NGONG ROAD ANNUAL SPONSORSHIP OF A YOUNG GIRL Friends of Ngong Road (FoNR), a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3), and Ngong Road Children Association (NRCA), a registered Kenya NGO, operate with the shared mission of providing education and support for impoverished Nairobi children whose families have been affected by HIV/AIDS. The devastation
caused by HIV/AIDS in Kenya has left the country with approximately 1 million orphaned children and many more living with a surviving HIV+ parent. Children in this program all live in the slums of Dagoretti, Nairobi where the median household income is under two dollars per day. Approximately 50% of the children in the program are orphans and the other 50% live with a surviving HIV+ parent; 5% of children in the program are themselves HIV+. Without the opportunity provided by a high-quality education, these children would be sentenced to lives of continuing poverty and would be an economic drag on Kenyan society. Unfortunately, Kenya’s public education system is not up to the task as it is woefully underfunded and inconsistent in quality. FoNR believes that placing at-risk children in high-performing private schools for primary education and public high schools gives them the best chance of success and will have a long-term positive ripple effect on Kenya, Africa and the world. DECEMBER 2014: The ATLANTA ASSOCIATION of INSURANCE PROFESSIONALS (Scholarship Fund)
The Atlanta Association of Insurance Professionals was created to provide an organization where insurance professionals could network and aid in the professional growth of its members.
Today, the membership includes agents, underwriters, brokers, claim adjusters, risk managers, financial planners, auditors, loss control engineers, attorneys, accountants, elected public officials and professional trainers. Many of the members hold professional designations including AAI, AIC, ALCM, ARM, CCLA, CFP, ChFC, CIC, CLU, CPCU, JD, LUTCF and SCLA.
The Atlanta Association of Insurance Professionals began awarding scholarships in 1990. At that time, the scholarships were given to Atlanta area college students. Presently, AAIP awards scholarships to high school and college students in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The scholarships reward deserving young people for academic excellence and community service. NOVEMBER 2014: CASA of NEW HAMPSHIRE
CASA of NEW HAMPSHIRE is a private, nonprofit organization whose volunteers advocate in New Hampshire’s courts for the best interests of abused and neglected children, so they can grow up in safe, permanent homes. In 2013, CASA of NH represented more than 1,000 abused and neglected children. Since 1989, CASA of NH has served nearly 10,000 children in District and Family Courts. As a private nonprofit, CASA of NH relies on a diverse revenue base. Thirty to 40 percent of our operating budget is from state and federal funding, with the balance from individual and corporate contributions, private grant monies, and revenue from CASA fundraising efforts.
Children living with the effects of abuse and neglect have a right to be heard. Last year, CASA of New Hampshire volunteer advocates helped over 1,000 children uphold that right. Founded in 1866, the ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. Our mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.” The ASPCA works to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters nationwide.

SEPTEMBER 2014: THE NEW ORLEANS MISSION
The NEW ORLEANS MISSION is the largest, full service Christian charity in the Gulf South. The Mission is an Interdenominational organization. Established in 1989, the New Orleans Mission is a private 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization initially created as a service provider for a growing population of homeless men living in our city. Today, we are the largest faith based private service provider among 60 shelters catering to the homeless population of New Orleans. Our overnight shelter capacity has grown from 80 men to 244, including 22 women.
The New Orleans Mission provides food, shelter, clothing and spiritual guidance to the city’s homeless, hurting and hungry. Our commitment to meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of the homeless community is backed by the financial support of generous local residents, churches, organizations and corporate donors that understand the importance of being socially responsible to the people in communities where they live and/or do business. Every year, our own Shyra Latiolais begins her annual campaign to raise funds for Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana. Her goal is to raise $1,000 to help feed the hungry people of New Orleans and Acadiana. For one in six Louisianans, the thread of hunger is a reality. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. Most of us simply have no idea. It’s time to educate ourselves about hunger in south Louisiana and beyond.

JULY 2014: NEW ORLEANS BALLET THEATRE
Returning native son, Gregory Schramel and wife Marjorie Hardwick, after dancing as Principals and Soloists in Miami City Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Atlanta Ballet and Dallas Ballet, established the New Orleans Ballet Theatre (NOBT) in December of 2002 to offer audiences a unique dance experience.
NOBT arrives at a time when the city is poised to become a significant presence on the international dance landscape. New Orleans Ballet Theatre’s foremost goal is to capitalize on this momentum by providing locally trained dancers an opportunity to thrive in their own community, create and express their own personal artistic voice and give back to a city which for too long has exported its best and brightest. Additionally, the artistic directors teach hundreds of underprivileged girls free ballet classes each year through the Girls First program. We invite you to join the company in this quest and ask for your support in creating and sustaining a world-class ballet company reflective of the lustrous and diverse culture that is uniquely New Orleans.
In its 11th season, the New Orleans Ballet Theatre is ready to take the company to a new level, by hiring up to eight resident dancers. MAY 2014: The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF)
The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is the largest independent organization devoted to melanoma. The MRF is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Committed to the support of medical research in finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma, the MRF also educates patients, caregivers and physicians about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.
The MRF is also an active advocate for the melanoma community, helping to raise awareness of this disease and the need for a cure. Its online forum – the Melanoma Patients Information Page MPIP – is the oldest and largest community of people affected by melanoma and is hosted through the MRF. MARCH 2014: CANINE ANGEL'S SERVICE DOGS
Canine Angels’ mission has three primary goals:
1) To rescue dogs that have been discarded by their owners and sentenced to overcrowded shelters.
2) To socialize and train the companion animals to serve disabled American veterans and first responders to help them regain meaningful civilian lives.
3) To educate the public about the Americans With Disabilities Act, so that legitimate service dog teams will never encounter the humiliation of being turned away from public venues, where federal law protects their access rights.
Canine Angel’s founder and president, has been training working service dogs for the people with disabilities for more than 20 years. He has trained dogs to assist those with hearing disabilities, seizures and PTSD, as well as stability and mobility issues. Working with his two personal chocolate Labrador service dogs, Fred & Ginger, Rick perfected his unique method of modifying canine behavior to connect with their natural instincts and achieve breakthrough training results in the least possible time. His deep appreciation for veterans and the sacrifices they’ve made for our safety and freedom led to the founding in 2011 of Canine Angels, nonprofit public-benefit corporation. In Louisiana, 90 out of every 100,000 residents have some form of a brain injury. Every year, 1,000 out of every 100,000 metro Orleans area residents acquire brain injuries.

FEBRUARY 2014: GERRY'S PANTRY
The SHARE Fund is a registered 501c3 nonprofit charitable outreach agency which provides various types of material and financial support to families and individuals in need during emergencies or times of severe hardship. Our primary goal is to provide the needed resources of food, shelter, and clothing. We help with basic needs in times of emergency or financial crisis.
We reach out to our neighbors in need to help them maintain dignity during difficult times, provide lifestyle guidance, and refer to other agencies & resources, when eligible, thus maximizing aid. Led by an Executive Director, with the help of an Administrative Coordinator, over 100 dedicated and talented volunteers deliver direct services and provide support activities to run our programs and services. Also in February we began a 2014 annual sponsorship of a child with the ANGEL’S IN NEED organization whose mission is to serve children with special needs and their families both locally and abroad. Our goal is to enrich the lives of these children and families by supporting already existing programs and organizations devoted to our cause as well as aiding in the development, implementation and financial support of programs where they are non-existent, all in an attempt to provide the children with opportunity and a sense of community in which to blossom. Angel’s in Need, Inc. operates on a strictly volunteer basis. There are no salaries involved and there is no overhead. We are a 100% volunteer, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
