community service

Courington, Kiefer & Sommers, L.L.C. is deeply committed to community service. Through our unique and successful Non-Profit of the Month program, the firm welcomes client and employee suggestions for charitable causes to which the firm makes a monetary contribution each month. As a further example of our commitment to community service we also contribute to microloans through the non-profit Kiva. Non-profits that have benefited from the program include: LSU Camp Tiger, the American Heart Association, Writers in Schools, the ASPCA, AIDS Response Seacoast, Philadelphia Global Water Initiative, Children's Miracle Network, Smile Train, the National Brain Tumor Society, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Golfer's Against Cancer, Amber Plan Partners, Texas Center for Missing Children, Team Gleason (a non-profit for ALS victims started by former New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason), Louisiana Fallen Officers Fund, Women LEAD, Devon's Den (Tulane graduate Devon Walker, sustained a severe spinal cord injury while playing in the Tulane vs. Tulsa football game in Tulsa, Okla., on September 8, 2012), Somaly Mam Foundation, Ednas Maternity Hospital, Fonkoze USA, Shining Hope, Women for Women, Aschiana Foundation, New Horizon Center for Children with Disabilities, Gerry's Food Pantry, Canine Angels, Secret Garden Tours (benefiting the Brain Injury Association of Louisiana), Friends of Ngong Road, and the Melanoma Research Foundation.

Further, our firm has given significant financial support and time to pro bono cases for indigent individuals. We have adopted a U.S. Paratrooper Unit stationed in Afghanistan to which we send regular packages and we participate in the ACP Advisornet program which is an online network of volunteer Advisors who commit to sharing their business expertise and advice with military veterans and their immediate family. We also support Angel's in Need whose mission it is to enrich the lives of Romanian children and families by supporting already existing programs and organizations as well as aiding in the development, implementation, and financial support of programs where they are non-existent. CKS also seeks to support companies owned by women and minorities whenever possible.
